Grandparents Week March 11-18

Let us honor our loving grandparents for the whole week of March 11-18 this year 2012. If not for them, we wouldn't be here in this world. Sooner or later, we too will become grandparents and will have lots of grandchildren who will surely love us and treasure us for what we are.

Pay tribute to your lolos and lolas as the country marks the start of “grandparents’ week.”

In 1996, former president Fidel Ramos declared the week March 11 to 18 of every year as “grandparents’ week.”

“Reserving a special week each year to give cognizance to and honor the Filipino grandparent is one way of raising our peoples’ level of awareness in the important role that our senior citizens play in society,” Ramos said in his Proclamation No. 757.

The Philippine grandparents’ week is different from the grandparents’ day being celebrated worldwide every 12th of September.

Ramos said in his 1996 proclamation that elderly people have occupied a revered stature in the Philippine society with their wisdom and affection.

“The waning tradition of fostering love and care for the elderly as represented by our lolos and lolas needs to be preserved and inculcated in our youth and in the succeeding generations of Filipinos,” it added.

Spend time with your grannies, take them out, or simply give them a hug not only this week but every day possible.

Now, the question is how are we going to honor our beloved Lolo's and Lola's?

In my case, I have no Lola on my mother side and no Lolo on my father side. But still I have my Lola on my father side who is turning 93 this year. She's still strong and talkative. On the other hand, my Lolo on my mother side is still alive but sadly, he's not feeling well for the past months since my Lola (his wife) almost a year ago.

Both of my grandparents are far away from me, my Lola is at Daet, Camarines Norte, and my Lolo is at Sorsogon. They do not have cellphones so I cannot call them but I can always reach them through texting my Aunties and Uncles who are with them. It's not everyday or every month that I get to see them, sometimes over a year that I don't get to talk to them. A simple text message from me saying thank you and I love you will be enough to let them know I do care for them and that they are important to me.

One Proud Mommy

It's Friday! Thank God its Friday - no work tomorrow.

More importantly, today is the day that the results of the top 10 honor students of DWCL Elementary will be released. I'm kinda excited about it but doesn't want to expect too much that my daughter will make it to the list of honor students.

At around 1pm today, my co-parent happily informed me through a text message that the list of honor students for Grade 1 was already released and my daughter was the top 10 honor student.

YES! My daughter made it to the top 10 honor students. I'm so happy and so proud of her. I've hurriedly update my status in Facebook and lots of my friends liked it. I've also informed my hubby, in-laws, and my parents about the good news and they were so happy about it.

It's true, studying every night and even during weekends was worth it. It really pays a lot to review your kids after school and during examinations. Also, it is important for our kids to join and have extra curricular activities because that's about 30% of the total grade (base on our schools grading system).

Now, I'm looking forward for my daughter's recognition day of March 22, 2012. Well, I need to be absent from work by that day because I shouldn't miss this very special day. My hubby will be the one to go up the stage and receive the award together with our daughter. It's actually my daughter's request for her daddy to go up the stage.

Office Chairs

Just a few weeks ago I was hired as a content web specialist and I was definitely so happy about getting a new job with a high paying salary. Obviously, I did not find it hard getting along with my new officemates because some of them where my former officemates in the previous company I have worked with. Another thing, my immediate boss is a former officemate too and actually a close family friend.

First day of work was somewhat stressful because I actually did not have a desktop computer to use at first since it was still being reformatted. Secondly, the swivel chair I am sitting on during that time was not working properly; I cannot rest my back properly. Sadly, there were no enough office chairs available.

Later in the afternoon, the computer that I will be using was already ready to be use so I was ready to start working. Well, half past 10 in the morning I used the computer of one of my officemate who was absent from work. I was then able to finish the articles I was asked to write.

I have waited for quite some time just to find a job that I will surely love. I just keep on praying about it and thank God, He really did hear me praying. I am just hopping that this will be the last and final job where I will become a regular employee.

What My Birthdate Tells About Me?

This is not just another facebook app that I took. Well, personality test like this is very interesting that's why I've tried it for myself.

The result about what my birth date does not exactly defines who I am really. But of course, some defines me exactly.

Hard Hearted and Selfish - I maybe hard hearted to some but not most of the time, probably just once in a blue moon and mainly depends on the situation. And I'm not totally a selfish person. I'm generous enough to share whatever I have at that point of view.

Religious - I may not go to church and attend mass every Sunday but I always pray by myself where I go and whatever I'm doing (even before I take a bath and while I brush my teeth - weird).

Good at talking and with a Beautiful face - that what most people say, I have PR but I don't really agree with that. Thank you for the compliment. Well, I probably talk and explain well that's why people find it very interesting to talk with me with all the stories I have. Beautiful face for me would be having a pleasing personality who is very approachable and always has a sweet smile.

Respect people - I don't only respect those who are older than me, but even those younger than me. I always say please and "po" and "opo" to my daughter and anyone who is younger or at the same age like me.

Lastly,  I fall in love with someone (friend relationship) - If I find someone nice to talk with, someone who talk good things about other people, and who is really true to his or herself, then I'll really fall in love for this person. However, first impression doesn't really last for me once I get to know a person. If he/she finds it nice to be friends with me, then he/she is for keeps.

My New Bestfriends

With the kind of work I have right now, Dictionary and Thesaurus are my new best friends. With the many items that needs to be describe, some of the same items just differ in color or shape, finish, etc. I kinda become lost what words to be used. Well, a 2 sentence description is not that very hard to do. Thanks to the Internet, particularly Google because searching for helpful hints is made super easy.

I'm trying my best to be able to do a lot of description and product names each day so I can not only reach the quota needed but as well as make more than what is expected. Well, I should be doing my very best so I'll become a regular employee.

So help me GOD!

Bonding with my Hubby

My hubby did not go to office today because he was sick. He has a headache and stomachache, probably because of too much drinking. Well, I'm used to it and it's okay with me because during those times that he is drinking, he is at the house and not anywhere else. It's also a time for us to bond together while surfing the net, studying Adobe Photoshop, downloading MP3 songs, and a lot more.

He spend the whole morning sleeping while I do my usual choir at home, sweeping the floor, arranging stuffs at home, preparing his brunch, and getting ready to go to my daughter's school to have lunch with her. In the afternoon we had an early snack, banana cue, camote cue, and pansit. Later in the afternoon after I fetched my daughter from school, we had some pop corns as well.

Hopefully, he'll be okay tomorrow so he doesn't have to be absent from work.

An extract remarks a north.

Narilatha Flowers Blooming in the Shape of Naked Women

"Isn't amazing....!!!!!
It is said that Narilatha flower plants grow in the Himalayan region in India and they bloom at 20-year intervals.
The trance of hermits is said to be shattered at the sight of these flowers which are in the shape of women .
This flower was in the shape of a woman and said to be as a rare Flower.."

I found this picture in Facebook. A post/image shared by one of my friends which I've also shared to my friends. I don't really know if this is real. I've made several research about the said flower - Narilatha flower plants - and here's what I've found.

The Narilatha flowering plant is said to grow in the hilly slopes of Himalayas in India and is understood to bloom once in two decades only; in other words it blossoms into a lady like flower after a 20-year interval.

It is believed that in times of yore the concentration of hermits and sages doing deep meditation would be shattered at the sight of these lady-shaped flowers.

The Narilatha or Liyathambara flowers said to be in the shape of a women are considered one of the most wonderful and rarest of flowers in the world.

But is it really true????

Who captured or made this? Looks to be some photo shop or even a photo editing trick?

Meanwhile a few facts have been found about ‘Naarilatha.’ It is an orchid belonging to the family Orchidaceae and comes under the Genara of Habenaria.

All Habenaria species are terrestial orchids with tubers. Around ten Habenaria species have been found in Sri Lanka out of which 5 are endemic to the island.

Happy Hearts Day!!!

Happy Valentines Day! Whew! Love is everyone. Well, not only today but everyday.

As what I've posted in my FB account..

"I don't expect anything special from my hubby tomorrow for Valentines Day bcoz everyday is like Valentines day for us ♥ ♥ ♥"

Well, my hubby cooking food every dinner and during weekends makes me feel so special already so I wouldn't ask for anything from him this Valentines. If he gives me flowers, then it would be sweet.

Early this morning me and my hubby already received a card from our daughter who is very really thoughtful. She always find time to draw, design, and write cards for everybody on any occasions.
